About Delts Cycling & The Little 500

Delts Cycling is our bike team that races in the Little 500 each year. The three-time champions are also known as JETBLACH, which is an acronym for the founders of Delta Tau Delta. The team consists of nine racers and is lead by Team Captain Josh Herbst. Delts Cycling is regarded around campus as a Top 3 team and a fierce competitor each year.

The Little 500, also known as “Little Five”, is an annual track cycling race held during the third weekend of April at Indiana University. It’s the largest collegiate bike race in the United States, attended by more than 25,000 fans. Modeled after the Indianapolis 500, riders compete in four-person teams around a quarter-mile cinder track at Bill Armstrong Stadium. The men’s race is 200 laps, or 50 miles, around the track. The event, billed as “The World’s Greatest College Weekend,” raises funds for scholarships for Indiana University students.
